Payment declined
What happens when a member's card is declined, and what to do.
When a member's payment is declined:
What SmilePass does
- Marks the invoice overdue and retries on a schedule.
- Sends the member a secure link to pay or update their card.
What the clinic can do
- Confirm the member's card isn't expired (SmilePass also checks this automatically).
- Ask the member to complete payment via the link they were sent.
- Watch the payments list for the invoice to clear.
Common causes
- Expired or cancelled card.
- Insufficient funds.
- A bank fraud-block on a new recurring merchant.
